How to display and track file access events monitored by FileAudit

FileAudit will track file access and access attempts across all your Windows Servers. With its powerful filtering capabilities learn how to filter the access events by different criteria to focus only on the information you need.

Introduction

Hi everyone, welcome to the FileAudit Tutorial. We will see on this video how to display and track the file access events monitored by FileAudit. Click on the “Access Reporting”.

Typing part

There are several ways to display the events of your chosen file or folders. Type directly the path and validate by Enter or browse to select the file or folder with the audit a folder/file button. To display all events that FileAudit monitors, simply leave the path field empty and validate by Enter. If you type a path which is not currently audited, the FileAudit wizard will open as before to configure the folder for access auditing.

Filtering button

To focus only on the information you need, filter the access events by several criteria: by date, access status, access type, user and by source when available. The time criteria is very important if you have a large number of events to display.

Grouping and filtering options

Choose to view the event list through several grouping and filtering options. To group the view by a specific column, drag and drop the column name below the path field. Personalize the data grid display by right-clicking the column name line. Options include adding access to the “Filter editor”, “Show find panel” and “Show Auto Filter Row”.

Search feature

A quick search feature is also available on every column name. Mouse over the top right-hand corner of the column name to see the funnel icon. Take note that the grouping and filtering options from the event grade affect only the data displayed. To perform the search of the entire events database, use the filters on the magnifying glass button.

Print and export

To print or export your chosen view, just click on the print button. A preview mode shows the number of pages generated for the data layout. Print it or export it on a different file format. You can also export raw data in CSV format.
