CD&B (Consulting Design & Build) is a French workspace project management services company dedicated to the development of corporate and architectural space. Established in 2002, the firm helps private companies, schools and hotels to improve well-being in the workplace through the development or redevelopment of their premises.
The Challenge
Trace access to all client files stored on the company network
The company handles more than 250 projects each year, representing a diverse range of sizes and sectors. It therefore has many important client project plans and data files stored on its network. CD&B became acutely aware that it had a problem tracing these files in a reliable way.
Particularly during busy periods, a pattern had emerged whereby documents were being filed in the wrong place, moved or deleted, with CD&B having no reliable way of monitoring who did what, whether it was accidental or deliberate, or whether the files now being used were authentic or duplicates.
From a security and a dispute resolution point of view, CD&B realised that it had to find a robust solution that would enable the IT administrator to trace access to all client files stored on the company network and thus secure the data entrusted to the firm.

FileAudit's simplicity and highly intuitive interface
CD&B’s IT manager Mohamed Alassane Baro was tasked with finding a solution. He turned to Google and quickly found IS Decisions’s FileAudit, which he was able to download as a trial version, install, configure and run all within 30 minutes.

Mr Baro set specific access alerts and data filtering to give immediate visibility of what is going on, without him having to undertake hours of time-consuming research.
Because FileAudit keeps a history of file access, it allows CD&B to easily search when someone moves a folder — whether intentionally or not — and to have real traceability of the data. In addition, FileAudit's highly intuitive interface and delegation functionality enables Mr Baro’s colleagues to directly monitor specific files they are responsible for. The delegation functionality allows anyone to search, create alerts or reports on their own records. This supports a culture of shared responsibility for file security within the company and helps save the IT department a considerable amount of time.
