Event Cleaner

  1. This feature can be accessed via the FileAudit hub. The value indicated on the Event Cleaner tile is the approximate current size of the database.

  2. The Event Cleaner allows deletion of events from your database. This view comprises three parts: ‘Database information’, ‘One-shot cleaning’ and ‘Scheduled cleaning’:

Database information

  • Record count: The number of events stored in the database.
  • Oldest event: The date of the oldest event stored in the database.
  • Newest event: The date of the newest event stored in the database.
  • Age of the oldest event: Age (in days) of the oldest event stored in the database. This is useful for the ‘One-shot cleaning’ mode because it enables the ‘Erase records older than…’ command.
  • Estimated data size: Estimated size of the events stored into the database.
  • Database size: Available only for the MS Access database. The exact size of the database .mdb file (comprising File structure size + data size). The maximum size of a MS Access database is 2 GB.

One-shot Cleaning

There are two possible operations within ‘One-shot cleaning’. The first allows removal of records older than a specified number of days.

Select this operation and enter the age (in days) above which events will be deleted. This number corresponds to the history days that will remain in your database after the operation. A translation is performed to obtain the oldest date that will remain in the history after clean-up.

  1. Click ‘Clean now’ to delete all events older than the age configured. Take note that deletion is definitive:

  2. The second operation cleans all records contained in the database. Select ‘Clear all records’ and click ‘Clean now’ to delete all events. Take note that deletion is definitive:

Scheduled cleaning - Weekly

Cleaning operations can be scheduled using the switch under ‘Scheduled cleaning’.

Choose and set the Operation in the same way as described above for ‘One shot cleaning’. Cleaning tasks can be scheduled ‘Weekly’ or ‘Monthly’.

Choosing Weekly reveals the day names with corresponding switches to enable the task for this day. Green denotes that the task will be executed on that day. Set the start time as desired.

The task is automatically created and configured. Click the ‘Back’ arrow to return to FileAudit hub.

Scheduled cleaning - Monthly

  1. The ‘Monthly’ option offers two modes. ‘Days of month’ allows selection of specific day(s) to execute clean up:

  2. The second mode is ‘Week of month’, allowing selection of a target week (first, second, third, fourth or last one) for scheduled clean-up, and requires further specification of the day(s) during the chosen week that the task will be executed:

  3. Set the start time as desired. The task is automatically created and configured. Click on the ‘Back’ arrow to return to the FileAudit hub.
