What is the difference between the light and pro version?

The light version includes all of the professional version's features except database management and process/script triggering.

Why does EvenTrigger stop notifying me once a log is full?

In order to avoid this problem, you have to set the "Overwrite events as needed" option for each log using the Windows Event Viewer.

Can I use the Windows 2000 package under Windows NT 4.0?

Yes, it is possible unless one of the following element is not present on the computer:

  • Microsoft Management Console 1.2
  • Microsoft Windows Installer
  • Microsoft Data Access Components 2.5

Why is the Windows NT 4.0 package so big?

Because it includes Microsoft Data Access Components 2.5 and Microsoft Management Console 1.2 that are already included in Windows 2000.

How can I be notified when a user access to a file?

In order to do that, enable Windows Security Audit on the file to monitor and create a new trigger with the following settings:

  • Log: security
  • Type: Success audit and failed audit
  • Source: Security
  • ID: 560
  • User: list of user accounts to monitor or (All)
  • Set a parameter filter numbered 3 equal to the path of the file to audit please add the 8.3 filename if this is a long filename
You then only need to define an action for this trigger such as sending an e-mail or a popup.

How do I upgrade EvenTrigger?

Please follow these steps:

  • Save your triggers in a XML file. In the console right click on the item "EvenTrigger - Local" and in the menu click on "All tasks/Save triggers".
  • In order to avoid a reboot of the computer close all MMC consoles on this machine
  • Uninstall the previous version of EvenTrigger. The database is kept in the process.
  • Install the new version of EvenTrigger
  • Import previously saved triggers. In the console right click on the item "EvenTrigger - Local" and in the menu click on "All tasks/Load triggers"
